Divine Intervention

when people say that adoption is "meant to be" a get a little sick to my stomach.  Why?  Why would God do something so horrible just to bless me with my son.  I am blessed to have him and I don't understand for the life of me why I got so lucky.

That phrase also bugs me and I can't imagine how it must feel to be an adoptee and hear that. I can't imagine going through anything awful like rape or the loss of a child and hearing someone say that to me. My response would be "screw you." I really think that phrase is overused and cliched. It like saying "everything happens for a reason." It does imply that God orchestrated a bad thing to happen. I know I am guilty of saying that in the past but that's not how I view God now. Our world is messed up and unfair and it's up to us to do whatever we can to make things a little better and more just. And to find beauty wherever we can. I think that's what a loving God would want me to do.

I am so glad that so many adoptive parents are writing and discussing this. I don’t think g-d works that way.

Sunday--I hope that adoptive parents are no longer (or at least most of them) willing to overlook the heart ache that happened in our childs lives.

I grieve for my my son has lost and for what his Ethiopian family has lost.
