So today is 5 months that we have been waiting. We expect to have a referral in about 7 months. Most days it seems like the 5 months have gone by very quickly. Today is not one of those days.

We got a call last week from our sw and I freaked out a little. Okay maybe a lot. Our social workers agency will no longer be processing adoptions after April. I was worried we would have to get a new homestudy, but we don't. We will need to find someone to do our post placement reports but that is not so bad. I just really liked our sw.

Fundraising Ideas

When we first decided to adopt we sent postcards out to friends and family letting them know of our plans. We also asked for donations to our adoption fund. I was amazed at the amount of donations we received.

We are currently planning a garage sale in the spring to help cover the cost of travel. More then likely it will be winter when we actually travel but we are trying to plan ahead. So friends and family are currently collecting items for us to add to our garage sale. They have said this gives them a chance to clean out their houses and get rid of items they don't need/want. We are happy to help.

Even though it seems like it will be forever before we travel to bring home our peanut we are trying to stay positive. Today in Addis Ababa it is 71 degrees with the low reaching 55 so maybe traveling in January won't be so bad.
